  • Effect of Process Conditions on the Corrosion Resistance of Rare Earth Conversion Coatings on the Surface of Hot Dip Galvanized Steel

  • Hot dip galvanized chromate passivation is toxic and environmentally unfriendly. In order to solve this problem, the passivation process of replacing highly toxic chromate with non-toxic and pollution-free cerium salt was studied, The protective effect of the conversion film on the hot-dip galvanized layer was evaluated using methods such as neutral salt spray test (NSS) and polarization curve measurement. The results indicate that this process can significantly delay the occurrence of white rust on the hot-dip galvanized layer; The rare earth conversion film simultaneously inhibits the anodic and cathodic processes of corrosion in the hot-dip galvanized layer, resulting in a decrease in corrosion current density and an increase in polarization resistance, significantly improving the corrosion resistance of the hot-dip galvanized layer.
